Alpha Syrah Xinomavro Merlot

Deep ruby colour with purple hints. Powerful, pungent aromas of sweet cherry, candied plum and toasty vanillin oak. Full bodied and deep in dark fruit flavours, with a peppery and strong oak spicy accents background. The solid tannins build through the finish but there is plenty of supporting depth of fruit here, not to mention a bright acid lift on the back that adds energy. A ‘’Vin de Garde’’ with a great future.

96 Points – James Halliday, The Weekend Australian Magazine June 2013

“An estate-grown blend of 60% syrah, 20% each of merlot and xinomavro given three to four days’ cold soak before fermentaion. A vivid, deep crimson-purple colour; intense black cherry fruit fills the bouquet, then opens proceedings on the beautifully weighted and structured palate. Superb poise and balance to the oak and fine-grained tannins. Served blind, you would not guess its country of origin”
