Grant Burge is a fifth generation Barossa vigneron and winemaker who has become one of the most respected and innovative forces in the Australian wine industry.

The history of the Burge family can be traced back to March 1855, when noted tailor John Burge, his wife Eliza and their two sons immigrated from Hillcot, in Wiltshire England, to the Barossa. Since 1988, Grant Burge Wines have grown to become one of the top 10 privately owned wine companies in Australia.

Grant Burge Benchmark Chardonnay

Region: Barossa Valley

This vintage is an incredibly fine and delicate rendition of the classic Chardonnay variety, which is bright gold in colour with vibrant citrus, floral and tropical fruit aromas. The palate is lean and racy, with the fine natural acidity lending great length to the citrus flavours, with slight rounding of the palate from the time spent on lees. This is not your rich and full ‘traditional’ Chardonnay, but a more modern rendition best suited to fresh Seafood and spicy Thai dishes.

Grant Burge Benchmark Pinot Grigio

The wine is pale gold with green hues. On the nose the wine shows ripe pears with subtle floral and strawberry notes. These aromas follow on to the palate, which predominantly tastes of green pears and is finely balanced with creamy notes provided by the time spent on lees coupled with dry, crisp acidity. This Pinot Grigio is designed for early drinking and is a perfect match for seafood dishes and light, Summer salads.

Deep red with vibrant purple hues, this wine displays classic Shiraz characters of spiced plums on the nose. The palate is soft and generous, with layers of dark fruit flavours, fruit cake, savoury spices and fine tannins.

Grant Burge Cameron Vale Cabernet Sauvignon

Deep red with purple hues. The nose has a lovely array of dark fruit aromas, with hints of sweet spice and vanilla in the background. The palate is rich, ripe and fleshy, with flavours of dark currants and cherries matched with allspice and fine, dusty tannins. The rich and complex characters of this wine are a delicious match to aged beef or roasted kangaroo fillets with sautéed mushroom sauce.

Grant Burge Corryton Park Cabernet Sauvignon

A wine of amazing depth and  complexity. The wine showcases classic Cabernet Sauvignon with fragrant aromas of blackcurrant, tobacco, mint, blackberry and cedar. The full bodied palate is succulent and complex with layers of cassis, plums and winter fruit all beautifully supported with elegant supple tannins. Enjoy with prime cuts of meat such as Fillet Steak cooked  medium rare, where the flavour of the meat and the wine will  combine harmoniously.

Grant Burge Filsell Shiraz

The 2011 Filsell Shiraz has an incredible depth of colour, with the vibrancy of youth adding purple hues to the deep, dark red. The nose displays a rare purity of fruit, with ripe blackberries and blackcurrants infused with lifted perfumes and rich vanilla and milk chocolate notes. The palate is beautifully weighted, with optimal balance between concentrated fruit flavours, sweet spices, tannins and acidity.

When a wine achieves such balance one glass is rarely enough; and this is no exception. For those with patience the 2010 Filsell can be confidently cellared for 12-14 years after release.

Partner it with aromatic dishes such as aged eye fillet with a red wine reduction or braised lamb shanks.

Grant Burge Hillcot Merlot

Region: Barossa Valley

Deep red in colour, indicative of the rich flavour which follows. The nose is dominated by rich, dark fruits enhanced by savoury spices and a hint of vanilla. The palate has concentrated flavours of ripe plums and blackberries, with a fleshy mid-palate of dark chocolate and vanilla and fine, grainy tannins.

The 2012 The Holy Trinity is brick red in colour. The nose displays vibrant aromas of ripe red cherries, raspberries and subtle floral notes, which then lead to a palate with incredibly refined and delicate structure where pure ripe fruit flavours are seamlessly integrated with silky smooth tannins, fine acidity and a fleshy mid-palate.

Grant Burge Miamba Shiraz

The wine displays vibrant aromas of dark fruits, blueberries, mocha and savoury spices. The palate is complex, with concentrated flavours of spiced plums, blackberries, musk and cracked pepper layered with grainy tannins and a lengthy finish. The oak treatment of this wine has evolved from previous vintages, with fermentation and maturation conducted in a greater proportion of French and European oak barrels. We believe has refined the style and structure of the wine.

Grant Burge Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay

Tinged with copper hues this wine exhibits yeasty, biscuit like, hazelnut and brioche aromatics that combined with ripe strawberry and rose-petal notes to form a complex nose.The palate is rich and generous and shows flavours of bread dough, strawberry and oyster.

Grant Burge Summers Chardonnay

Region: Barossa Valley
Current Vintage: 2013 | Cartons 6 x 750ml

Bright gold in colour, with attractive aromas of citrus, green pears and apples and subtle creaminess. The palate is finely balanced, with creamy texture courtesy of the time on lees supported by an acid backbone which combines to create excellent length of flavour. Citrus zest and lime are the dominant flavours, with a hint of spiciness from the French oak adding complexity.

Food matches such as roasted pork loin, spiced quail and fish pie allow the 2011 Summers to fully express itself.

Pale gold with green tinges, with a delicate bouquet of fresh lime, lemons and hints of floral blossom. The flavour of fresh limes and lemons flow into the palate, which is clean and crisp with balanced acidity and minerality to provide a fine, lingering finish.
